Don’t panic.

In the end it will all come naturally to you.

It will appear simply as the right thing to do.

The P.M. accepted these accusations happily, freely admitting his involvement in the films. In time he warmed to the witness box, not only admitting his involvement with the creation of the implant but adding the fact that he’d inherited the idea from his father…

“That’s how far back I go.”

By now nothing he said seemed to matter. The only thing that interested them was whether the President of America had been invoved from the beginning as well.

“I doubt it,’ the P.M. maintained. “I’m not sure when or how he first became aware of these events,” he added. “But he certainly knows about them.”

“Have you spoken to him recently?”

The P.M. always answered truthfully.

“I have.”

“So… what is he intending to do about it?”

He always gave the same answer –

“I think he’ll be prepared to give the Regeneration a chance.”

To which they would invariably respond.

“But do you know… for sure?”

This was the question on everyone’s mind.

“No. I don’t.”

“So how can you say that?”

“He’s very positive by nature.”

“But…”

In these conversations there was often a “but”. And the P.M. knew that behind that “but” were private jets… yachts… islands… houses in major cities… millions of dollars in horse flesh… billions of U.S. dollars in Swiss bank accounts…

“Of course you were right to allow it to happen but…”

“I agree it’s all possible but…”

“Yes… I think God may well appear but…”
