The mood changed again when a lean, bony-faced westerner with a bright orange turban, skin burnt brown by years of sun, and a brilliant smile held a book up to the camera and read slowly, in a French accent –
“In the Regeneration, when the son of man shall return on the throne of his glory, you also shall be there. And everyone that hath forsaken houses or brethren or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands for my name’s sake…”
The Frenchman looked up at the camera with a mischievous twinkle of promise in his eye.
“Shall receive an hundredfold…”
And pointing to the passage in the Bible, continued –
“And shall inherit everlasting life.
“But many that are first shall be last…
“And the last shall be first.”
So… they’ve actually got some historical, philosophical basis…
A single, isolated quote from the Bible, that no-one’s ever taken any notice of.
Mmm… interesting… does that change anything?
