With the Chairman and his Committee lined up in front of him like a gang of errant schoolboys, the President began.

“You are the embodiment of everything that is wrong with the world. You are selfish. You are greedy. As far as I am aware you lack any trace of humanity. If you have any love in you, which I seriously doubt, it extends only as far as your immediate families. From day one, when confronted with this extraordinary situation, you acted purely out of self-interest. I doubt if any of you, in your perennial pursuit of more for yourselves, have ever seriously considered the parlous plight of the rest of the world.”

The Chairman scoffed, spiking a rush of confidence in the group.

“That’s outrageous!”

“Of course we considered the world!”

“We were saving it from this… mess.”

The President silenced them with a withering look.

“You ignorant cretins,” he said, oozing disgust. “You took one look at what the sadhus were trying to do and immediately concluded that it was some great threat.”

“We sure did! It is a threat!”

“What’s going to happen when God doesn’t appear?”

“It’ll be…”
