In the Regeneration - the man-made messiah

Chapter August 16, 2012

There was a long silence, long enough for the President to wonder if that was all Shard had to say.

“When you talk about my voice in the Regeneration,” he found himself asking from the void, “what exactly is it you have in mind?”

“My mind is fluid,” Shard replied.

“Oh yes, aren’t they all?” the President quipped. “But come on, you must have some idea.”

“The Regeneration simply asks a question – if everyone wanted to see God at the same time, would God appear?”

In theory.

“But… everyone? the President said with an inflexion of disbelief. “It’s easy to trot out a word like that but… in reality, how do we get there, for God’s sake?”

“You get us there.”

“Really! And how am I supposed to do that?”

“Just by being yourself.”

“Hoh!” the President mocked. “Nothing’s that easy.”

“For you it is,” Shard said. “Don’t worry. Your attitude will enable each side of the question to voice its opinion openly, without fear or favour. Your ambivalence will bring perfect equanimity. After all, nobody knows the answer to this question. “

Lofty words… but what about the detail?

What does he really want from you?
